Schoolish

  • Dress - H&M
  • Shirt - charity shop
I’m afraid this was just one of those days where it was so rainy and grey I didn’t spend long taking pictures so there’s only one half decent one. I need a new mascara and after seeing these, I never want to go without again. I know I use this blog to share my outfits to try and boost my self esteem really, I want to see how my style changes and see if people like it…and I do feel very vulnerable sharing pictures of myself, especially on off days where I feel plain and ugly. But here you go - I love this dress that I bought on my trip home to London, I just need to find some comfy tees to go underneath it.

Off To London

  • Dress - Beyond Retro
  • Satchel - eBay
  • Boots - Dr Martens
  • Glasses - charity shop
Just a quick one today as I was rushing off to catch a train to London for a couple of days as my parents are so busy this summer I probably won’t get to see them at all. Anyway, this vintage tea dress came from Beyond Retro, and it makes me happy, sunflowers always do. Motel have quite a few gorgeous pieces with sunflowers on but unfortunately they are not in my art student price range so a thrifted alternative will do!  And as usual I have big DMs on with my pretty dress. I decided that I didn’t have enough nice bags as I usually throw everything in a canvas tote bag or the same old rucksack and I’m really envious of people who can ‘pull off’ having nice bags that add to an outfit. I just typed in ‘vintage satchel’ to eBay and found this lovely denim bag with gold embroidery all over it and I’m so happy with it. Perfect for summer with stacks of beads and my Yoda necklace.

Florals & Denim

  • Dress - charity shop
  • Shirt - auntie’s
  • Backpack - charity shop
  • Socks - Topshop
  • Shoes - Dr Martens
Another adorable floral dress I’ve been lucky enough to find in a charity shop! Sometimes it feels like perfect things just fall into my lap - but then I do a lot of treasure hunting so chances are I will find something on most charity shop outings. The new place in Bath I’m moving to in a few weeks has six charity shops on its little high street, and I’d gone ten months without discovering them til recently. I am going to be bankrupt next year. Anyway - I threw this vintage denim shirt on top for when the weather cooled. I have quite a few that my auntie used to wear all the time 20 years ago, I love having all her 90s cast-offs. With some cute socks and a pair of DMs, as per usual.

Daisies & Dinosaurs

  • Shirt - vintage Laura Ashley (charity shop)
  • Dress - charity shop
  • Shorts - eBay
  • Socks - Topshop
  • Shoes - Dr Martens
This weather is forcing me to be as creative as possible with outfits -  its so hot and then can change so quickly so you need an extra layer for the evening. I found this shirt in a charity shop the other day, of course I had to get it as it’s covered in the cutest daisy print! I think I’ll only ever wear it as a jacket though. And this striped dress is another charity shop find. I just loved the shorts underneath it, I felt like it was very vintage bathing suit like in the silhouette and the stripes. And I wanted to clash the stripes with the patterned DMs, they’re so cute with the little fuzzy suede polkadots.

Paisley & the Zodiac

  • Tee - Monki
  • Skirt - hand me down from a friend
  • Bag - charity shop (Accessorize)
  • Socks - Primark
  • Mary Janes - Dr Martens
I wasn’t sure about wearing two such clashing prints - the black and white paisley swirls in the skater skirt and the zodiac animals on the tee - but I liked the black-on-white and white-on-black contrast so much I decided to stick with it. This is such a cute flared skirt so I wore the shoes that always make me feel six years old, my bright green Mary Jane Dr Martens with knee socks.

Summer Evening

  • Tee - hand me down
  • Shirt - East End Thrift Store
  • Short skirt worn underneath - H&M
  • Sheer maxi skirt - charity shop
  • Boots - Dr Martens
  • Laces - charity shop
  • Bag - charity shop
This was another floaty outfit for a hot day! First of all, sorry for the dodgy lighting in the last picture, I don’t know why it came out so contrasty but never mind. The sheer skirt over the top made this outfit just warm enough to wear into the evening, with the big grungy shirt on top for walking back home after drinks in town. My DMs have been updated with rainbow laces now but I forgot to get a picture! I’ll remember next time I wear them. I love this shirt to bits, it’s one of my cousin’s old tees and my friend cut the sides up and braided them to give it a more fitted look as it was very oversized when it was first passed to me. I wish I could remember how she did it. I think this was the first time I’ve ever used this handbag as well - I found it in a charity shop (of course) and loved that it was a beaten-up suede purple bag that you can throw anything in, but I tend to use my vast collection of canvas bags with designs printed on them for carrying stuff around. I need more nice bags that complete an outfit, that’s for sure. Also, this purple lipstick - I think I have about five different brands of purple lipstick and it is so hard to get it to stay on. All my other shades work fine with lipcote, but every time I’ve tried a purple one, they rub off? Maybe it’s something to do with the colour. Anyone have a good one to recommend?

Dirty Hippie

  • Tee - Calgary Folk Music Festival
  • Cardigan - charity shop
  • Boots - DMs (hand painted)
  • Skirt - Beyond Retro in Brick Lane
Recently the weather has been so warm but cloudy somehow so it never feels like the beginning of summer even though it’s boiling! I found this black cardi with lovely patterned details in the sleeves and in the hem, which was perfect to throw over this t-shirt from the Calgary Folk Music Festival which I went to with my mum a few years ago, the happiest summer I’ve ever had. Since I was going full out grungy-hippie, I combined the festival with this long flowing vintage skirt and my customised DMs.

Wednesday Addams

  • Dress - sheinside
  • Creepers - eBay
  • Tights - eBay here
  • Socks - M&S
  • Shorts - eBay here
  • Bag - charity shop
I don’t know why I wanted to dress like Wednesday Addams on such a hot day, I just did. Skeleton legs, pretty white collar, pearly buttons…I love this dress even though it is very short - I think online clothing stores have really bad judgement of sizing but nonetheless I really like this dress. I am wearing it with the cutest little lacy shorts that I found on eBay. They’re like little bloomers and I need to order some more soon, they go under everything so subtley and make you feel more comfy if something is just a little bit too short. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Black & Red

  • Dress - charity shop (H&M)
  • Harrington jacket - gift from my brother
  • Socks - Topshop
  • Creepers - eBay
This is from a couple of days ago when it was so windy we could barely take pictures!  This cute little tea dress is from a charity shop (though it’s H&M) and again I paired it with my blood dripping socks from Topshop, I am just obsessed with patterned socks. The classic Harrington jacket just thrown on top goes with everything, I love my Harringtons. And my Sleek eyeshadow palettes, I love this delicate lilac colour. Those eyeshadows are pretty much the only make up products I invest money in.

Charity Shop Prints

  • Shirt - charity shop
  • Skirt - charity shop
  • Bunny necklace - charity shop
  • DMs - eBay
  • Tartan bag - a little hippie shop that my mum and I love in Edinburgh here
So today my boyfriend and I had planned to explore the area of Bath we are moving to in July/August - by explore I mean check out the charity shops of course. I just threw on an almost entirely charity shopped outfit too, I thought this monochrome skirt could be livened up by this crazy shirt! And I managed to find four new things today as well, so they’ll be paired with something soon. I should feel bad about how much I shop, but at least its all going to charity and not a high street giant, right?! Of course I have loads of items for sale too, please have a look here. My hair looks pretty awful in the second to bottom picture but I really wanted to get my eyeshadow in as I absolutely love it. Sleek palettes are my favourite and I did treat myself to some new make up today so I might be sharing that too, what do you think?
